Job Summary
This position is responsible for the safe, clean, and efficient operation of the concrete plant, loader, and yard. This position is under the direct supervision of the Plant Managers.
Essential Duties
All Yard Foreman must follow company policies, procedures and management’s instructions.
- Having read and understood the Employee’s Handbook.
- Clocking into work at your appointed time ready to start your shift with proper safety attire and equipment. Fuel all equipment before going home.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance when reporting to work and throughout the day.
- Keep adequate inventory in the plant’s aggregate bins to ensure smooth plant production.
- Maintain aggregate stockpiles in a neat manner.
- Monitor and maintain the slump area to ensure it remains free of excess built up concrete and wash slurry.
- Grease all grease points on the plant and loader weekly and/or monthly according to schedule provided by the Asset Manager.
- Check air line oilers weekly and refill as needed. (if applicable)
- Keep all levels of the plant swept and free of rock, sand, cementitious material and debris to allow visual inspections and repairs to be made.
- On a daily basis, visually inspect all rollers and idlers on all conveyors, and keep them free from rock or debris. Always pull the emergency stop when addressing rollers on any belt.
- Maintain the central dust collector magnahelic gauge between 2 and 5 psi. Wearing proper PPE, rake the filter bags on a weekly basis.
- Conveyor Pit Hygiene (if applicable): Build-up of material should be removed daily/weekly as needed. Monitor the water pump to ensure it is working properly and the pit is free of water.
- Weir Pit Hygiene (if applicable): Monitor and prevent solids from entering the pit. Clean out the pit on an as needed basis to keep sediment from building up. Place sediment in drying bin to be hauled off. Keep truck wash out area free from debris and slurry.
- Maintain overhead bin levels in such a manner as to ensure the rock and sand belts are never stopped while loaded. This will cause permanent damage to the drive belts, head pulley lagging, main belt, motor starter, and possibly the electric drive motors.
- Maintain block forms in workable condition and free of concrete. Request repairs as needed. (if applicable)
- Break-down block forms on a daily basis. Reset the empty forms for the creation of the next block and stack the newly created block in a manner that is safe, organized, and easy to count.
- Daily maintenance of leftover concrete to include breaking up hardened concrete and stockpiling of approved leftover concrete.
- Monitor and report to Plant Manager any improper concrete dumping onto yard or weir pits.
- Collection and deposit of all waste into the plant dumpsters on a daily basis.
- Daily, Weekly, and Monthly inspection reports should be written and provided to the Plant Manager who will work with the Asset department to address.
Job Requirements
- Must have reliable transport to work.
- Must be able to work Monday through Saturday.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- Must be willing to take directions from the management team.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
- Must be willing to operate a shovel daily.
- Must be willing to climb plants, trucks, and loaders daily.
Environmental Conditions
Work is performed in all environmental, temperature, and weather conditions. Work day length varies, depending on assignments and weather.
